A suspension change

This is a Dealer Collection Evo 2, it has several performance upgrades. A big turbo, multibranch manifold, big stainless exhaust and a straight turbo inlet with the intercooler moved forward, and more stuff too fitted by the previous owner. An expensive set of Leda gas shocks was also fitted, these were adjustable and had remote canisters fitted.

A suspension change

This Evo is a great car, it's fast and sounds good too.

However, looking at the paperwork with the docs, the car had spent a lot of time at John Whalley's, some of this time was used welding seat mounts and cracks in the body.

Even on the softest setting, the suspension was hard, and seemed to be shaking the car to bits!

So I removed the Leda kit, and sold it on Ebay to a very friendly gentleman from down South.

He was going to have the shocks serviced at Leda, and fit them to his Evo.

I made contact with Tanc B, he had a set of standard Evo suspension just removed from a rusty yellow car. So I went down to collect them, they were sound enough, but quite rusty. I bought the set, and brought them home for refurbishment.

Rusty strut from rusty Evo

The struts looked rusty, but Tanc said they were good, the strut tops felt tight enough, and the fronts swivelled freely.

So, no time to waste, I got the set stripped down, cleaned, de-rusted, primed and painted. In the end they looked good, let's hope they work as well as they look!

So, job done, all cleaned up, and new bump stops fitted.
